Volunteers and paid staff are essential partners in the implementation of Community Living Kingston's mission.
As most community members do not live or spend their free time with paid supports, voluntary programs bring us considerably closer to true community living and participation. The powerful advocacy of voluntary community support networks further decreases the likelihood that anyone will be forced to be supported by paid staff rather than by family and friends.

Voluntarism is a core value and defining characteristic of the Association. For over four decades the Association has involved concerned citizens as volunteers. It is governed by a volunteer Board elected from among the members. In its most early days, and still today in some areas, volunteers act as unpaid staff.
